Since the beginning of MTW presence in La Ceiba, addressing the physical and emotional brokenness of the city has been central to the work of the team. We long to see the redemptive power of the Gospel enacted through caring for the marginalized and the poor with Christ centered programs that serve acute needs while laying a foundation for generational transformation.
Puerta de Esperanza (PDE) is a safe home for at-risk teenage mothers. With a holistic approach that incorporates Bible Study, vocational training, life skills development, and a 24/7 structure, PDE provides for the multiple needs of these vulnerable young women as they learn how to be Godly women and mothers.
MTW La Ceiba Medical provides high quality, affordable, community focused medical care and education. Access to even marginally adequate medical care is unattainable for the majority of La Ceiba. Through the small act of giving dignity by caring, listening, and helping, MTW La Ceiba Medical makes tangible the redemptive power of God's coming Kingdom.
Peter Project is a day drop-in center for adolescent street boys. Through a combination of neglect, abuse, and coercion there are dozens of young boys on the streets of La Ceiba every day. Peter Project provides a fun, safe environment each afternoon where the boys eat a balanced meal, hear the Gospel, complete their homework, and are invested in by our amazing staff and volunteers.
